Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

The EDI course aims to highlight the importance of a diverse and inclusive workplace to the participants and how such a workplace can be achieved. 

 

By the end of this course, participants will understand: 

 

  • The relevant laws that companies must adhere to in order to maintain an equal, diverse and inclusive workplace

  • Discrimination within the workplace 

  • How to prevent discrimination within the workplace. 

 

This course focuses on the following: 

Discrimination: 

This course provides an overview of how the different types of discrimination that can occur within the workplace, these include: 

  • Direct discrimination 

  • Indirect discrimination 

  • Associative discrimination 

  • Perceptive discrimination 

  • Harassment 

  • Victimisation 

 

Participants are provided with examples of each type of discrimination to help identify them within the workplace. 

 

Legally Protected Characteristics:

There are some characteristics that are legally protected under the Equality Act of 2010, these include: 

 

  • Age 

  • Disability 

  • Gender Reassignment 

  • Marriage and Civil Partnership 

  • Pregnancy and Maternity

  • Religion and Belief 

  • Race 

  • Gender 

  • Sexual Orientation

 

Participants will be given an overview of each of the protected characteristics and how each one is protected under the Equality Act of 2010. 

 

How to help:

The course details how participants can help to guard against any forms of discrimination within the workplace, including who they can report any discrimination to and upholding the EDI policy at all times.
