Closed-Circuit Television

This course aims to inform participants on their rights surrounding CCTV footage captured within the workplace, along with how companies must adhere to the law when making and storing CCTV recordings. 

 

By the end of this course, participants will understand: 

 

  • A company’s responsibilities when CCTV is installed 

  • The laws which regulate CCTV 

  • The uses of CCTV

 

This course focuses on the following: 

 

Laws regulating CCTV: 

This course will provide participants with an overview of the laws surrounding CCTV, and how they impact the use of CCTV within the workplace, these include: 

 

  • The Data Protection Act (2018)

  • UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)

  • The Human Rights Act (1998)

  • Protection of Freedom Act (2012)

 

The course will also cover the responsibilities of employers to uphold these laws and to register with the Information Commissioner's Office upon having CCTV installed. 

 

Uses of CCTV: 

There are multiple uses for CCTV and participants will be given an overview of why CCTV is often used for the following: 

 

  • Protection 

  • Monitoring 

  • Security
